The Dull Men's Club

I have in the past been accused of being boring. I've got broad shoulders and can take the criticism even if I felt it was a little harsh. But maybe, just maybe, they were right. I've just subscribed to this site The Dull Men's Club which I think is so quirky and funny.
The first article I came across concerns the direction of travel of luggage carousels around the world. How cool is that?

Damned if you do

Has anyone else noticed the amount of negative press at the moment? I'm starting to find it quite wearisome and unnecessary. This article summed it all up nicely for me. It's almost as if, post Leveson, with nothing salacious to write, newspapers are struggling to publish balanced and sensible criticism and or comment.

Is there dog in it?

My tastes and taste buds are all over the place at the moment. This has been developing for several months now. The other day  I saw an article on eating curry for breakfast and thought, mmmmm I'll have a piece of that.
Anyway, we're lying in bed this morning and my beloved asked me what I wanted for breakfast.
'A little byriani,' I said.
'What?' she shouted at me. And then the argument started.
After a few minutes of argie bargie Jan said, 'OK, I can do you some rice with a little Korean curry sauce mixed in,' (left over from a meal on Saturday). I nearly fell out of bed in surprise.
Wow, come on boys and girls, is this service or what?
I wonder what I can dream up for tomorrow?

How to treat a girl

Friends emailed the other day to ask if we fancied The Malton Food Festival. It was only about an hour away and the website looked interesting so off we went. For various reasons we chose the second day and very nice it was too, especially as the first day it poured down. Anyway, it was warm and sunny when we went.
The place was packed, probably because the weather the previous day was a bit miserable but despite this it was an interesting and tasty experience. Recommended.
To show what foodies we are, after watching an advert on television, I mentioned to Jan that I fancied a Sausage and Egg McMuffin.
'You know what?' she said, 'so do I.' So that was it, from the exoctic variety of food in one location, to the other tasty and cheap end at McDonalds. I really know how to treat a girl!

Amazing

If this is true, and I suspect it is, then stop to consider that this person is entitled to vote. A move which could affect your life.

Note: When I searched online for a picture of a stupid woman the picture above came up. I'm not sure why.

A little trip out

We always said that we'd explore more when we were in France but once the dogs came along that became a bit more difficult, so we didn't.
However, we are trying to change that as we live here. Yesterday was a case in point. Neither of us had ever visited a 14C moated manor house before and there is one just near us, about ten minutes away.
Markenfield Hall has a fascinating history and was first mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. Rather than copy chunks from the history tab, click on the link and take a look yourself.
