The real truth behind the ship turning round is that the captain got the shits when he realised that part of the re-enactment meant he actually had to hit an iceberg.
Lol! That may not be in his contract, but who wouldn't turn around with the weather they've been having? Being stuck in the middle of the ocean in the middle of a storm is not my idea of fun.
Like you, the thought of being stuck at sea in the middle of nowhere is my version of hell. On a much smaller scale it happened to me on a cross channel ferry but we couldn't get into port (Boulogne) because the sea was so rough. We had to ride out the storm at sea. It was absolute hell.
