Jan, who rarely watches sport other than rugby, got interested in the Taekwondo, no doubt looking to pick up a few kidney crunching, aggressive moves. I look forward to the pain!
Being the 'home' Olympics broadcaster, it's refreshing to watch the BBC coverage which, whilst naturally concentrating on the GB team, also shows a huge range of all the other sports at the push of a couple of buttons.
When we were in Spain last week the coverage was again naturally concentrating on Spanish athletes. I mentioned to Ben, a Barca resident, do they have a red button facility? He looked at me blankly.
I had to point out that the BBC had an additional 24 channels covering all the sport being played at any one point in time, available on the 'red button.' I'm not sure if they have that facility in France either.
Whatever your opinion of the output you have to say that the BBC is a very good broadcaster.
Can't help thinking that anywhere else the 'kicking people in the head' contest would be called "Assault".
ReplyDeleteAre you going to tell her?
DeleteMy red button doesn't seem to work, but perhaps that was just as well, I get confused with too much choice. But between BBC1 & BBC3 have managed to catch most of the best bits. I think the coverage has been fantastic & I have never watched so much sport in my life - & enjoyed every minute. What will I do when the Olympics is over - cos I sure as hell won't be watching the football. Oh yeah - who are the highest paid, most pampered sportsmen of all the Olympians? And who crashed out early? Maybe they should donate some of their obscenely high salaries to some REAL athletes!
ReplyDeleteApart from the bit about not being able to figure out the red button, well said.
DeleteYour red button problem is now worrying me. Let me try and help. Is your picture in black and white or colour?
DeleteHa ha. Colour obviously. It does bring up an index on the right of the screen if I press the red 'A' button but I have not been able to find the 24 channels you mention - unless you are referring BBC internet. If I click on Sport it then brings up a list of different sports for me to choose - I guess I have just worked it out - have I?
ReplyDeleteBTW Well done Uganda in the Marathon - fantastic race & brilliant support from the massive crowds.
