What total and utter rubbish. Jan and I laughed out loud at various bits which is a bit of a bummer because there are another nine episodes. Nine on Sunday night is costume drama time, especially for Jan. I'm not a big Downton fan but I watched it for no other reason than to have the occasional inward giggle whilst Jan sat mesmerised. But please BBC who on earth commissioned this rubbish?
Having checked the TV reviews this morning it seems that people far more qualified than me, agree, and some of the reviews were downright hilarious. If this programme had been produced for a children's audience then I could understand but not at prime time for adults. It was extremely insulting and someone should get fired. Talk about the BBC dumbing down.
It didn't sound good so we didn't watch it. Thank goodness now I read this.
ReplyDeleteI read today that it was a co-production with the USA Starz channel. That would explain the dumbing down then.
I said to Jan it was something that Disney would have made 30 years ago.
DeleteThat's a shame. I didn't get the chance to see it as I'm in France and sans tv at the mo. I enjoyed the book.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to watch it but forgot it was on. Two colleagues did though, with opinions at opposite ends of the scale.
