So I'm sitting here writing this rubbish when I hear a loud but distant shout from outside.
I can't quite believe it.
What I think I hear is "ragnbone".
We both look outside and true enough there's a small flatbed piled high with scrap metal doing a u-turn. I can't remember the last time I heard that cry.
However, I think these guys might need a little marketing help. At the speed they're driving there isn't a cat in hells chance that you would have time to hear their message, gather together what you wanted to give them, get outside and stop them.
It reminded me of this clip from Morecambe and Wise.
That's like going back 40 years, how strange. That M&W clip is a classic. Makes me laugh every time I see it.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteDid you use the opportunity to offload the Golf?
ReplyDeleteRemind me whose car wouldn't start the other day?
DeleteMarvellous clip. How I miss the innocence of Morcambe and Wise.
ReplyDeleteI remember coming home from school one day as a rag and bone man drove away from the house with my grandmother's old Singer sewing machine on the wagon. I knew at the time it wasn't the best thing to do with it, even if it was old fashioned and not as good as her new electric one.
I thought you were going to say that the rag and bone was leaving with your grandmother.
DeleteShe was definitely tempted, I seem to remember.
